Paleo Chocolate cake!

This recipe is great for birthdays, parties or to just have a treat for yourself! The best part is that it looks like a real cake and comes along with frosting too. By taste no one can tell if it’s paleo of not!

Here’s the recipe:

Pre-heat oven to 300  degrees F.

This is the banana variation

CAKE INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 cups almond meal

1/2 cup flax-seed meal

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

4 tablespoons fat or oil (butter, coconut oil, lard…)

3 eggs

1/2 cup walnuts(optional)

2 bananas (optional)

6 tablespoons honey(or any paleo approved sweetener)

Almond milk to consistency(thickish)

TECHNIQUE:

Measure and mix almond and flax-seed meal, cocoa powder, and baking soda in a large bowl. Melt fat in a medium bowl in a microwave, and add eggs and  honey to fat and mix thoroughly. Mix wet ingredients into dry and add almond milk to consistency. If you want, add walnuts and mix evenly. Optional: pour 1/2 of the mixture into  in a well-greased baking pan  and add banana slices on top evenly. If you are not adding bananas just pour all of it in.  Bake at 300 degrees F for about 35 minutes.

While that’s baking prepare the chocolate cake frosting (vanilla is great too but I have no clue how to make it) This is optional but frosting makes you cake so much tastier! This will add the extra sweetness to the cake too.

INGREDIENTS:

1-2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

1 cup of almond milk

2 tablespoons coconut oil(or any cooking fat)

2-3 tablespoons honey(I know pretty high-carb…)

TECHNIQUE:

Mix all ingredients in a small pot and cook it on low heat, stirring often, untill it is nice and thick (10-15 min.). Then turn heat off.

Now, when the cake is done baking, let it cool at room-temperature for at least 15 minutes. Then, heat up the frosting again, stirring for a minute, now just pour the frosting on the cake evenly. Let it cool more before putting it in the fridge. Enjoy!
