The Paleo Way

The paleo or Paleolithic diet is just designed to fit the real dietary needs of human beings. We are trying to eat in a similar way to out ancestors from the stone age. The Stone Age is  the time when we started to use weapons made of stone, and the killing animal prey became much more practical. Unlike the popular low-fat diet, the paleo diet is very high in the good saturated fats and usually low in carbohydrates (eating more than 3 or 4 fruits a day is high carb). This diet prohibits grains, dairy, legumes, refined sugar, vegetable oils and any processed food. This is because our bodies have not evolved to eat these and they can be very harmful to our health. On the paleo diet you should eat lots of meat, eggs, vegetables,  fruits, nuts and berries. For calcium I suggest almond milk(but most paleo dieters drink coconut milk, but some, like me, are allergic)  You should not count calories or try to control your portions, just eat until you are satisfied. And don’t be scared to try this, it’s strange, but definitely better  for all aspects of health, and it also gave me a huge energy boost. Feel your best in years and go the paleo way!

This is what the paleo diet looks like, but you can tweak it to your needs

I’m so Excited: Health Speech

On Monday at school I am giving my speech called “Health for Everyone” to the leadership class. Luckily I’m on spring break right now, so I have plenty of time to practice before the big day. My speech is about 25 minutes long, I know, it’s a little to much, but I hope I reach out to every one.

The speech has two sections: diet and exercise, (and by the  way I’m giving this to middle school students, hope they listen) along with an intro and a conclusion. In the diet section I talk about carbs, protein and fats and I clear up the terrible myth that saturated is bad, it’s not, it’s really important for good health. That’s what I’m most proud about telling my peers. I do not focus on exercise too much, (mainly because of lack of time) I  just tell the benefits of exercising and consequences of not exercising. Then I just wrap it all up and that’s it! 🙂

Welcome!!!

I just started this blog yesterday, and I’m kind of stuck thinking of what to write. So I thought I’ll just say hi to all the people on the internet. Anyway, in the future I will probably be writing about health, since I love dieting and exercising, and maybe a thing of two about school. Well, have a good day!
